Editorial Review
Watering holes in Coogee seem to be overpopulated with backpackers and vocal sports fans, and lots of beautiful people displaying the quality of their spray tans. Cushion is a relaxed yet stylish restaurant/lounge bar, and couldn't be more different from the Coogee Bay Hotel or The Palace. Cushion is elevated above the Arden Street scuttle, giving direct views to Coogee Beach and minimising foot traffic - Cushion's guests have made an effort to be there.
The restaurant occupies a good sized segment of Cushion, though the lounge bar with its plum accents and day beds is the ideal place to play with the tapas style menu. If you aren't the sharing type, the wood-fired oven is ready to spit out crispy pizzas or you can order one of the seafood slanted mains. Everything on the restaurant's menu can be ordered in the lounge bar, so you can recline on a day bed while you dip salty polenta chips in chilli jam or enjoy smoky chargrilled octopus with olive tapanade. Predictably, Cushion is especially popular with females on a girls night out, or couples looking for a sexy date venue.
